The high-temperature environment of deep strata can easily lead to the degradation of drilling material performance, particularly a decrease in the fastening strength of cutting teeth and the drill bit body, resulting in tooth drop issues. This not only severely shortens the service life of the drill bit but also greatly reduces drilling efficiency, increasing operational costs and safety risks. Therefore, how to enhance the fastening strength of tricone roller bit in high-temperature environments has become a critical bottleneck restricting the development of high-temperature geothermal well drilling technology.


Breakthroughs in Fastening Strength Research


Facing this challenge, GREAT, leveraging its strong R&D team and experimental facilities, conducted in-depth research on the fastening strength of tricone roller bit based on experimental analysis and numerical simulation technology. We found that in a high-temperature environment of 180℃, the decline in fastening strength can reach 14.7% to 83.3%, providing an important basis for subsequent improved designs. By optimizing the diameter of cutting teeth, increasing the contact area between tooth holes, and precisely controlling tooth interference, we successfully developed new personalized tricone bit products. These new products not only significantly improve the fastening strength of cutting teeth but also enhance the overall wear resistance and rock-breaking efficiency of the drill bit.
